So No more! I said and took this money to my local Apple Store and picked up a new MacBook. My initial experience was nothing less than the ultimate. This machine is by far the best computer I've owned to date. As is usually done on this blog, I will now begin to rave at length about the MacBook.

The Speed!
Oh my the speed! The sheer difference in my 2.0 gHz Intel Core 2 Duo and the 1.5 gHz Intel Core Solo was incredible enough for even a speed junkie like myself to notice. Plus, I bought the $1299 model, which came with a built in 80gb Harddrive and 1gb of RAM! Together, with its blazing clockspeed and its lightning fast RAM, I've yet to find a task the MacBook cannot complete with ease and efficiency.

The Software!
Now you readers have heard me boast and brag about OS X, over and over and over again, however, it never gets old. Never once, on my Mac Experience, have I ever wished to use a different operating system. OS X is by far the most excellently designed piece of software ever concieved. The sheer userability of OS X is great enough to turn day long daunting tasks, into hour long creative projects. Sorry to say it folks. The boasting isn't stopping soon.

The Portability!
At JUST over an inch, the MacBook is the Ultimate in Portable Computer. I can take it pretty much anywhere, without needing much, and its great six-hour battery life ensures I can take a LOOOONG trip.

To conclude, anyone who is deciding to buy a new computer, regardless of usage, whether a video editor, a programmer, a gamer, a music junkie, or a writer, like me, I suggest you pick up a new MacBook today!!

The Reasons Why I Ally Myself with the Democratic Party

Today is April 18th 2007. Two days after the most gruesome massacre in American History. I see constant media barrage about the lives lost, the sacrifices made, and those who have survived. The horrific event that has occurred at that Virginia Tech campus reminds me of the main reason I choose to be a Democrat rather than a Republican.

Sure, many people are anrgy, at the failure to lockdown a campus, or at the loss of life, but I am very very angry at our American Policies that allowed one young man, a student barely old enough to drink, walk into a gun shop and purchase a gun which he would later use to murder 32 of his classmates and himself.

This terrible crime incenses me, because I am in full support of gun control. There should have been no way for a student to walk into a gun shop and to buy a weapon for use against humanity. Weapons should have been restricted to law enforcement agencies and the military. I now know that many things need to be done to oppose those who believe that guns should be in the hands of every man. Who is to mandate who gets the potential to kill many lives? Who gets to decide who lives or dies?

Thats why I don't blame this horrific event on the students, the school administration or on the perpetraitor, I blame it solely on the US Congress and the Bush Administration which loosened up gun control laws. That administration opened the door for a massacre like the one we witnessed on April 16th 2007, and for this I cannot stand.

I urge you, enact gun control laws in your community, and help our congress make the right decisions, to prevent another catastrophe like the event we witnessed two days ago on a peaceful April morning.

Analysis of the Themes in "Rejected"

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_Y_OKXcpUKxY/RdtRxuYCXHI/AAAAAAAAAAY/m430M4q7Fx0/s200/Rejected_screenshot.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5033706923220950130" />
"Rejected" is a short animated film by Don Hertzfeldt which was released in 2000 by his production company Bitter Films. "Rejected" offers a unique view of humanity, and a unique view of society and the human condition. This essay will attempt to explain the many themes exemplified in "Rejected."

The first scene we are presented with in the film is the infamous "spoon and banana" scene. This scene reflects the human condition, in that the man, having realised, that his spoon is way too big, realises the futility of life in that he will never get the chance to consume his bowl of cereal. The banana enters to examplify how he feels inadequate in regards to the other fruit. Oh how he wishes to be as hard as an apple, or as fuzzy as a peach, but he is instead a banana. His sudden loud, perturbing cry of "I AM A BANANA!" Reflects his acceptance of his role in the fruitbowl of life as a squishy, non-necessary object of mediocre taste.

The second scene that we witness as viewers is the tumor scene. This displays how two men standing completely alone on the edge of nothingness, are able to relate, and still worry. The first is quoted as saying: "Tuesday's coming did you bring your coat?" Symbolising how the end of the world is on tuesday, and they stand just on the threshold of it. The "did you bring your coat?" Shows the mans care for his friend, and how he wishes his friend to not worry about the imminent armageddon, but to focus back on trivial matters, so that when armageddon comes, it will be short, and painless for his friend. The second man's response of "I live in a giant bucket." demonstrates how the man realises that no matter how his friend tries to protect him, he is still aware of the imminent armageddon, just like one is aware of every droplet of rain when you live in a giant bucket. Suddenly the first mans inner concerns break free and burst out of his head in a giant wiggling talking tumor. The tumor responds in gibberish, and the second man, shocked at the true inner worries of his friend, responds with a hearty "F@CK!". While this exchange occurs, a pigsquid rushes by overhead, showing that even at the edge of apocalypse, pigsquids can still go about their lives innocently and ignorantly.

The third human reflection we witness is the "Silly Hat Segregation" scene. This scene depicts three very happy men, wearing silly hats, standing in a "Silly Hat Only" zone. This demonstrates to the viewer that even in our modern homologous culture, people can still be separated. As a man arrives, wearing a relatively normal hat, he stands for a moment in the zone, and looks about, daring to believe his luck that the societal barriers have finally been broken. We cut to a short advertisement for the "Family Learning Channel" and we return to witness the normal hatted man being beaten by those with silly hats in an accurate representation of what REAL society is like.

The fourth human condition reflection we see is the "Violent Bleeding" scene. This scene shows the same two men as in the tumor scene who are standing on the edge of nowhere again. The first man asks the second: "Do you want to go see a movie?" and the second responds with an "I'm feeling fat and sassy." The first's question is designed to show his care for his friend again trying to distract away from the impending armageddon. The seconds response is even more tragic as that he comes to a realisation that in this thin anorexic world, poor second in comparison is quite "Fat" and due to his subtle realisation, he admits to being additionally "sassy." Suddenly the increased stress in First's head explodes in a fit of screaming and suddenly his eye pops out and begins spraying blood all over his friend, and his friend is too shocked and concerned to move or do anything but stand, and scream again at the futility of life.

The fifth exemplification of the human condition is during the "Fish Sticks" Ad. The man stands alone on the edge of a great white abyss. He sees nothing around him but a lone "Yield" Sign. Out of the heavens drops a sudden alien craft, which then proceeds to euthanize this poor man on the edge of nothing by stealing his eyeballs. The man, then unhindered by the burden of sight proceeds to walk directly into the yield sign in an effort to end his tragic existience.

The second-to-last exemplification of the human condition is the "anal bleeding" scene at which many small puff clouds begin dancing to a rather hypnotic song sung obviously by swedish people. They all dance with cries of:"THIS IS FUN!" and "LIFE IS GOOOD!" meanwhile a lone puff-cloud springs a leak in his anus and begins bleeding. Its tragic as this puff-cloud begins to shout louder and louder, more and more desperate of his plight as his friends continue dancing. As it is in real society, as the ones who need the most help, are often kicked to the curb and left to die, or in this case, drown.

The final and greatest of all exemplification of the human condition is the "End of the Cartoons" scene. In this scene, the cartoons so carefully drawn and rejected by Hertzfeldt begin to fall apart. Everything begins to decay. A sudden ripple in the pages wipes out the poor segregated silly-hatted folks. A great gaping hole in the sky begins to suck anything and everything into it, including the Banana and our dear sightless friend. The Family Learning Channel banner falls crushing a group of small puff-cloud items, and the duplicate men are caught in a blasting mirror image. Finally it falls on a lone man who watches as his world, all he has come to know and love, collapse into pieces and crinkled paper. This symbolises how we will all react on that fateful day when few of us will be left standing to watch our world collapse around us, into nothing more, than crinkled paper.

So ends my Analysis of the Themes in the short film: "Rejected"

Review of Programming Language VB.NET

Alright folks, as of late, I've spent a large portion of my time playing around with programming, and I can say with complete success that the language Visual Basic .NET edition is quite the language for anyone programming for the Microsoft Windows XP platform. I guess my biggest fear in using VB.NET is that in a year or so when Windows Vista has become the native OS of most of the modern world, my applications will be obsolete. Ahh, but as is the cry of a developer. Unless of course the new .NET framework will come natively on Vista. Ahh, but we shall see in due time.

Anyway, before you readers crucify me royally for saying this, I'm GLAD thats right thats in capitals, that I'm writing code for Microsoft Windows. BECAUSE, the entirety of the computing world uses windows (Save us intelligent UNIX users....) so, I know that if I choose to openly distribute my software, (UNIX Open Source Style...) Except written in VB, I'll reach my maximum target community, the largely windows using community.

There are still those few antiquated hold-outs who refuse to update to download the .NET Framework, or those who just don't plain know how, but if they evolved too, not enough to use UNIX yes, but enough to use the latest software, then I'm sure my work could reach the highest mass usage of any software. I doubt this will happen albeit.

Anyway, I've found that not ONLY is VB.NET an easy to use language, its IDE (Integrated Developer Environment) Microsoft Visual Studio is quite advanced. I love the system of designing and implementing your interface, designing the look, the feel, the overall style, and then designing the code behind it. Its an easy to use and very pretty-looking IDE, in comparison to say, VI, the most basic IDE for Java.

On the whole though, throughout all of Microsoft's "Consortium of Revolting Software" (ANFSCD, 2) I feel that VB.NET and its subsequent IDE Microsoft Visual Basic, are by far one of the most advanced Windows running applications I've used. So for once, I'll say it: well done Microsoft.

My Operating Systems

Hello readers, I've been gone for some time, due to exams and what not as well as a variety of other education related activities, what with deciding on majors, trying new Operating Systems, and getting other such Technological Advantages for my newly designed Lab from which I am posting this now. So without further ado, I want to Talk about all the operating systems from which I've tested.

-------------------
Novell SuSE Linux 10.1 GNOME Environment

A few things I noticed when I first booted into SuSE was the similarity to my preferential OS Mac OX Tiger. The environment was the same, the menu bar was the same, the way things were laid out was the same. The browsers, the file organization, and the Beagle Search which behaves like Spotlight.

As Far as packaged Applications go, the Epiphany Web Browser is quite a good browser (I was curious to try something different from the Mozilla guys, because I use Firefox on my XP box and Camino on my Mac.) From the tests i've run, I am a fan of Epiphany because it runs and behaves similiarly to Safari, my second favorite Browser also on the Mac.

All in all though(albeit I haven't covered much) SuSe is a good OS, one I'm comfortable using due to its similarity to OSX. Should my Mac ever crash, I feel i should be backing up onto the SuSE box, so that way I can have a fast, well run, well tested Unix Based OS.

-------------------------
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack 2

As you all know I am quite Anti-XP-Anti Microsoft, so as a result, I'm going to go into detail analysing it. It'll be good, It'll be fair, and it'll be legit. Let me begin by saying that you guys are probably using it right now. Oh wait, your window froze up. CTRL-ALT-DELETE. You'll get out. End Task. End Process Tree.

-------------------------
Apple Mac OS X Tiger

Tiger Tiger, Tiger, what can i say about Tiger, except that it is my PRIMARY desktop OS. On my Mac Mini, I have all my data, all my movies, all my music, all my documents, all my programs all my files, this computer is my primary machine for any operation I carry out. My favorite application on Mac OSX is probably iChat AV. With an iSight (which I have,) one click connects you to anyones computer so that you can send a video message, or if they also have a video webcam, you can videochat with them. i for one, enjoy not having to type as much in an IM window. Plus you can import ALL of your AIM contacts. All in all, I recommend you use Mac OS X Tiger over ANY OTHER OS in the world.

-------------------------

In conclusion, you've now heard my highly biased opinions about Mac OS X tiger, Windows XP sp2, and Novell SuSE Linux 10.1. Remember, these opinions are just that. Opinions, and I know for a fact that these are my feelings only. If you have an issue with them, remember this is a blog and I can say and will continue to say whatever the hell I feel like saying. Period.

--Omega

My Intangible Passion

Well Hello readers, I just suffered a short bout of writers block, and was unable to write anything but sad lovesick poetry etc... and hence now I have bounced back from my compositional "funk" as it were and so as a result, I shall post my award winning essay: My Intangible Passion. So without further ado: My Intangible Passion!

       My Intangible Passion

by: Omega

Many people in this world have passions that are tangible. You can touch the artists sculpture, you can hear the musicians sound, but my passion is somewhat intangible and invisible. My passion is the internet. No matter where I am, home at my workstation with its silvery shine, the comforting sound of Mac OSX booting up out of its sleeping state, the prospects of being among others of my type, I can always reach it. Its my alter-ego, my alter-reality. After a stressful day in the reality here, I can disappear into the internet and get absorbed in a discussion with an Irish blogger over anything I want.

I guess its the fact that I can completely step away from reality when I’m there, I can be my alter ego, Omega, who makes podcasts, writes blogs and manages forums. I’m like some caped super-hero who all day is a typical American Student, but by night is some mysterious masked blogger. Its such a great feeling to know that there is a world beyond our current conceptions of the world. There is the internet, and that is a place where I’ve made my home.

I can call up any fact I need at will, whether to support my new anti-Microsoft theory or just to see what DID come first the chicken or the egg. (By the way it was a genetic mutation that created chickens from turkeys. But thats just my theory.) I hop in my favorite search engine and go for a ride. I’ve mastered the internet. I can do anything. But the best thing about the internet, is its freedom. There is no older presence preventing me from seeing, or creating or experiencing anything. I can do what I like, and no-one can stop me. No oppressive government, no site blockers, no parental controls, the internet is my construct, my neighborhood. The world is my neighborhood.

Not only does the internet have local effects, it has global effects. All these politicians and diplomats, sitting in congress and the UN, working on ways to share global peace. When indeed, they completely have missed global peace, sitting right under their monitors. The Internet. Yes thats correct, the internet is the only NON-PLANNED effort for global peace that has worked better than any planned effort. Haven’t you noticed? There is no war on the internet. No tally of soldiers lost valiantly defending www.apple.com. Everyone respects each others rights and visions online. Oh sure, you may disagree, and your welcome to, and thats your right. If someone has the right to post their opinions, you have every right to comment on them, but there never has been a war on the internet. No country has wanted to own the internet for themselves, and if we the developers of the net, are still alive and blogging, then they will never rob us of our home.

So many people are afraid of my passion,They’re afraid I’ll abuse my freedom. They’re afraid I use my knowledge to write viruses, or hack computers, but in reality, I do no such things. Its my freedom to do as I wish, and I wouldn’t abuse it for my life. If I ever did, I would never let myself set mouse down in that ordered evolving mediascape.

I use the term Mediascape as a way to describe the beauty of the internet. When one looks at a beautiful sweeping African Plain, they think wow, look at this beautiful landscape, and I see that too, when I’m in reality, but when I’m on the net, behind my screen, my landscape is a sweeping set of images and stories that tell of ones experiences in the sweeping plains of Africa. Therefore, since it is not merely capturing the image of the event, but the feelings, the sensations, the wonders, its all one constantly updating, evolving mediascape.

I guess, to wrap this up is to show you how you can help keep this amazing example of world peace going, and you can do that by one word. Contribute. Contribute to this Evolving Personalized Information Construct. Add to it, write interesting and though provoking articles that make people think. Take digital pictures of sweeping wildebeests in africa or whatever your passion it is and put it online, because there will come a day, when someone will control what you see, and I’ll be leading my fight to defend my intangible, invisible home, the Internet.

Sincerely,
Omega

(Thanks to Epic 2015 for their contributions as far as quotes and this image......)

Providence Place Apple Store Grand Opening

Hello Readers/Listeners, as of now, I’m home safely after a day out in Providence, due largely to the grand opening of an Apple Store in Providence Place Mall.

My day started at 3:50 AM at Alex’s Place. Alex woke me and my friends up, so we could shower, dress in our Apple Best (my Stamford T-Shirt) and make some Cappuccino. I made a cup for myself to drink there, while my friends readied themselves, and poured two cups into a travel mug for the road. Finally, at 4:40 AM, armed to the teeth with my digital camera, a pair of train tickets To and From Providence RI, and my excited beating thudding thing in my chest, which stirred the same feelings as I felt at Stamford, we left the house, bound for our Train Station.

Arriving at 5:00 on the dot, we stood about the platform, guessing and predicting what wonder and mystery lie ahead of us at our destination, and the mystery enthusiasm virus that was so prevalent in Stamford was back. I was raring to go, my engine on full speed. (caffeine.) I was so over the moon that I climbed up a metal girder housing a street-lamp. Our Amtrak train was late arriving because it was not an MTA train (which are FAR SUPERIOR.) We boarded the train, not knowing what would await us on the coming hours.

As we boarded the train and handed our tickets off to our friendly conductor, the train lurched forward allowing us to find four seats together. We settled in, and Alex shared the fact that the Providence Place Mall was open 24/7. A look of dread settled in over each of our five faces. Open 24/7??!?!? We’d never be first in line! That was our ultimate goal. Be THE FIRST people to enter that Apple Store. One of my friends came up with a fantastic idea.
When we reach the Train Station in Providence, the three fastest runners, Me and Two others, would drop all our bags and items with Alex and our other friend, so we could run ahead and reserve our group a place in line. So we had a plan, or so we thought...

7:42 AM comes, and we are prepping as the conductor shouted “Providence Rhode Island!” we stood in the vestibule of our car in the hopes that the doors would slide open, and as the train came to a halt, the doors slid open and my friends and I bolted. Hearing Alex yell “ RIGHT, LEFT RIGHT RIGHT!” Indicating directions I took off at the speed ahead of my friends as we raced towards our unimagined goal.

But running for so long created minor problems. The sky had begun to spit bits of rain at us and I was freezing as I ran across roads past Borders and other shoppes before dashing inside behind my faster friends. We turned the RIGHT, then the LEFT then the sequential two RIGHT’s and skidded down the open long hallway of Providence Place that housed the Apple Store. Seeing the staff inside empowered me and I ran towards the doors. But alas, we had failed. Ahead of us were 11 people. My friends and I skidded to a stop behind the 11th person, and Stopped and waited. Alex and our remaining friend emerged from around the corner toting all of our belongings and dropped them rather unceremoniously onto the floor beside a Brass floor based electrical outlet.

The Next hour and a half were passed by finding a Dunkin’ Donuts, Having an Unreal Tournament 2004 LAN party (thanks to Alex for hosting it from his MacBook Pro.) and getting to know the people in front and behind us. One of my friends during this time procured a fat roll of Duct Tape from his bag and began labeling things as “i---” things for example, I was given one taped to my chest reading “iAbdomen”. This provided entertainment for some time. (Special thanks to iGirl and iHippie.)

Soon enough I heard cheering and clapping as the glass doors slid open and a massive staff of Apple Employees came running out giving High Fives to everyone in line, as if an appetizer for the real meal which would be the opening.
By 9:50 AM a line 342 people thick had succombed the ENTIRE hallway down to the Nordstroms entrance. Me and my friends had not gotten first in line, but we had done better that those behind, we being at positions 12,13,14,15,16 in the line. I GOT TO BE #12! Which made my day completely making me the first of my party to enter.

And then, at 10:00 AM on the dot, the doors slid open, and the fabric barrier preventing us from entering was lifted and the people ahead of me were given the go ahead. Following the lead of the people in front of us, I reached the entrance and was tossed another simple white box with a gray sticker sealing inside another Apple Store T-Shirt. I ran down the left side of the store Smiling so hard my face began to hurt high fiving EVERY SINGLE Apple Staff member down the line.
As my party came through, for once, none of us were talking, a beaming smile on every face. A friend of mine struggled to get the words out:

“That was awesome.”

As I thought about this on the ride home, I don’t remember one second in the store that I wasn’t smiling. I smiled as I entered, Smiling as I ran down the left aisle, Smiling as I took my picture with my friends. Smiling because what I’d experienced that day, was the closest thing I’d known to true happiness.

Epic 2015

I think its about time I did another article on this truly remarkable theory on how the future of the internet shall become.

Epic 2015 is a documentary on the history of the internet, as told by a historian in the year 2015. It begins in the CERN Particle Physics Lab, where Tim Berners Lee invents the internet. Soon after, the greatest search engine in history is compiled....Google. Google begins on its path towards conquering the internet, first with News, then Pictures, Then Blogging, then Videos, then Mapping the world, finally ending with compiling the greatest computer network ever designed, EPIC. EPIC stands for the Evolving Personalised Information Construct.

Bit by bit, a battle wages on, between Microsoft who is attempting to own the internet with Newsbot, and other such highly stupid aims. cery time, Google checkmates it again and again, finally forcing Apple into its throne as the best computer for EPIC, what with its GPS tagged Podcasts and its very latest wifiPod.

Overall, this poignant image of the future has inspired me to be an internet contributor, sharing my ideas and feelings on everything for everyone to hear, and with any luck, us computer savvy ones will find ourselves on the edge of the EPIC with no Microsoft to force us anymore, and when that day comes, I'll be standing proud and tall over all the rest, proud to be a contributor to this amazing construct we know as the Internet.

Also if you'd like to view Epic 2015, do so by visiting here:

http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/epic

Omega Conspiracy the Forum

Hi Folks, as many of you have noticed, I have designed a rather cunnningly designed forum for Omega Conspiracy.

Its a high quality forum and you can discuss anything from Poltics to Scifi and Technology. Anyway, as many of you know, I'm an avid Battlestar Galactica Fan, and since I must wait till October to see the rest of this amazing show (Season Three), I needed to do something BSG-y to help my cravings for BSG, and one way was to join a BSG rpg, (www.s10.invisionfree.com/battlestar_valorous) and the second idea was to purchase the soundtrack for the just finished Season Two, which I did. I am going to review some of the songs on this amazing CD for you folks. So here is my review of Battlestar Galactica, Season Two Soundtrack. I'll run down a list of my favorite songs and why.

1.)Allegro (5:02): Allegro is a beautiful piece of music, with a similar composition to Passacaglia, another BSG song, that has beautiful violin/cello mixes. It is a good song, and keeps you enjoying every second of this five minute song.

2.)Pegasus (2:48): This song properly conveys the mystery and excitement in the show surrounding the appearance of the Battlestar Pegasus, that was thought to have been lost during the attack. Its a very eighties piece of music, much electronica, and other techno influences have been used in the making of this worthy piece of music.

3.)Lords of Kobol (2:53): this song has an Enya feel of it, what with the cries to the Lords of Kobol, whether religious or meaningful the cries to the Lords of Kobol are. It rapidly picks up beat halfway, and that snags your attention as do the mournful cries.

4.)Something Dark Is Coming (8:54): A particularly long piece of music by any standards (Save Dave Matthews and his 15-Minute-Long Concert version of "Warehouse") Nevertheless, this song has a Prophetic feel to it, as did Roslin, staring off into space and saying: "Something Dark is Coming." This song is foreboding and inviting all at the same time, and makes listening to it, a pleasure.

5.)Roslin and Adama (2:52): This melancholy melody is a tragic piece, but one that also showed love. This song was occurring mostly in Ressurrection Ship, as Adama visits a dying Laura Roslin. In the episode, as she hands Adama the Admiral pins and is helped out the door by Billy, the tears that well up in Adama's eyes as he sees the weakened yet beautiful Laura Roslin be eased out of the door. Those tears are tears of love, and this music truly reflects the love Bill Adama has for Laura Roslin, however, latent and nonsexual this love is, its there and prevalent in ever in this moving piece of music.

6.)Gina Escapes (2:02): This music is playing as Gina (The Number Six avatar on Pegasus) escapes from the brig on Pegasus with Gaius Baltar's help. This music helps add to the trippiness of the scene, because as Gaius lets her out, she walks past him with her fatal look on, in an identical fashion as she did in the miniseries.

7.)Reuniting the Fleet (2:50): has the same old ireland feel that "Wander My Friends" and "Good Lighter" have, the feeling of family, all the humans are family, and Adama's silent catharsis in the corridor when he finally decides to "Put our family back together" on the advice of "D" Dualla.

8.) Prelude To War (8:26): Another long one, but this one is heavy in percussion versus in guitar as "Something Dark is Coming" is. This song gets people up and active, not a song to fall asleep to, but you can feel the battle rage in the music, its Tempo up and Beat up, with loud drums and so on.

9.)One Year Later (1:45): could be my favorite of all the pieces on this CD. It has the solid Ticking Clock sound we hear in other such songs as Sting's "Russians" and in Dave Matthews "Everybody Wake Up." as well as some beautiful strokes of the violin to slide over the ticking and piano, its a meaningful song, testy, tenative, and gritty, but on the whole, one of my favorites.

Overall, this CD is worth every penny, even if you buy it for just these songs listed above. If I were you, I'd buy this amazingly moving, intrestingly poignant, and powerful album of music, a necessity for ANY music fan.

Stamford Apple Store Grand Opening

Hi folks, as I am writing this, I’m resting after an amazing day spent in the Stamford Town Center Mall. Now those of you who follow ifo.applestore.com you know me, being a crazy mac addict, I had to attend the Grand Opening of the new Apple Store in that mall. The event was amazing and fun and I am beyond glad that I awoke at 4:50 AM to get to the train station to take the train over the border to Stamford CT. Anyway please allow me to tell you the story.
Alright. So I drove with my friends to the local (not specified) train station and we caught a train to Stamford Connecticut. The ride was very Serene, as my friends and I laughed about old times and fun times ahead in the coming hours. It was a good ride and in an amount of time, we reached the Stamford Train station. After disembarking our car onto the crowded platform, we set off on foot for a 0.7 mile hike across downtown Stamford to the Stamford Town Center. The mall was yet to be open so one of my friends and I headed across town to the Starbucks so I could acquire my morning necessity of caffeine. But instead of being miserable and grim all the way to the place, this morning was different. It smelled of excitement, as if there was some sort of infectious virus of some sort, rampant in downtown Stamford, and I couldn’t help but feel anxious for the coming hours.

As we returned, we recorded a bit of our antics on one of my friend, Alex’s MacBook Pro. If you are lucky, I you will be hearing a bit of this on his podcast and blog. ( www.completely-different.blogspot.com) As we were podcasting, we noted several people moving about the inside of the mall. They were servicemen and mall employees and somesuch. They milled about, and at nine o’clock on the dot, a man approached the door we were waiting outside, and unlocked it. We quickly packed up camp and headed out down the corridor past the mass gum-ball dispenser into the Macy’s Atrium section of the mall. We tore past crowds to find a velvet rope indicating a line position outside the Apple Store which now, had lost its paper covering its glass door and windows and now we could see within. We had reached to be places 5,6,7 in the line.
Down the center was a display of iPods and iPod Hifi speakers. They were all within operable parameters. Off to the left, was the brand new MacBook display showing off the brand new Black and White MacBooks. After them came the Mac Mini display, housing my computer (or one of its siblings) the Mac Mini. Off on the right were a few PowerMac G5’s attached to musical keyboards and various other peripherals. Along the back left were a display of the iMac’s and along the back right were a display of Mac Book Pro’s.

At nine thirty, we saw the lights click out and the doors slid open.
Suddenly a line of Mac Geniuses and Mac Specialists came pouring out to high-five and shake our hands. They paraded out with cheering and clapping and high-fiving and loads more fun. They really put me at ease, making me remember the common thread that unites all Mac users. We all love our computers and love to talk with other Mac users, and I can say, this staff was no different. They broke up the line and went to talk to different people about their computers and how much fun there was to be, and by nine fourty five, they had filed inside, ready for their grand opening. We saw them talking smiling, shaking hands, showing us that they were indeed real humans, real employees who were happy and wanted to be there. Unlike the robo-humans at many stores who mindlessly ring up items, (and often don’t want to be there), These people were as excited as we were, ready, willing and happy to welcome us into their brand new store opening.

At Ten O’Clock precisely, the doors were slid open and we were led inward to dual lines of Mac Geniuses and Specialists who as we ran down the center, between the lines, gave us more high fives, clapped and cheered. We were tossed white boxes sealed with a gray Apple sticker, as if sealing some sort of secret from us. My friends and I ran through and when we reached the end, opened our boxes to reveal our Grand Opening T-Shirts. They are black and have the simple white logo and white lettering saying: “Stamford.” on the back, as on every apple product says “Designed by Apple in California” as if to emboss some sort of magic on these garments just by their designer, but to me, its worth more than a shirt, its from one of the greatest designers of all time, and serves as a silent homage to the day when I was not alone in this big world of computers outnumbered by Windows, the day when I was among friends, friends I had never met before.

**If you want this as a podcast, visit here in iTunes: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=163400881**

Podcasting!

Podcasting!

Thats right folks!

You can now listen to me, Omega on my podcast! So using my wondrous Mac and its amazing iPhoto, I produced this quicktime Video. You BSG fans tell me what you think.

The Pictures are all from various sites and consist MOSTLY of pics of Roslin from Season One and Season Two. the Music is the song "Roslin" from the Season Two Soundtrack. Its the music that plays when Adama goes to visit her the first time on Ressurrection Ship, as well as the music that follows her sad exit after promoting Adama and their short but tragically romantic kiss.

Do Tell Me What You Think.....

Latest Additions to my Computer Workstation

As many of you have been following, I have continually been updating you folks on any new updates to my beautiful Mac Mini, and recently I have added two brand new amazing apple peripherals, the Apple Wireless Keyboard, and the amazing and highly anti-productive iSight. I shall evaulate these two amazing products by Apple, and then restate my newest Mac's specs.

Apple Wireless Keyboard: I unfortunately lost my keyboard in a rather violent seltzer spilling accident, luckily, Pisces saved my ass by being at the Apple Store at exactly the right time. I was afraid I would need to connect a regular keyboard to correctly set up the new bluetooth enabled wireless keyboard, I however was incorrect and the moment I turned it on, it gave me full keyboardy goodness. Highly worth the cash. not to mention, I can type on my lap or across the room with its beautful wireless freedom. A necessity in my opinion for any Mac user.

iSight: This high quality webcam made it amazing simple for me to do tons of thinsg, like Video Chatting, Audio chatting, recording video, recording audio, accepting audio commands, and all manner of other great things. For me anyway, the video chatting alone is enough to make me glad I bought it. My Mac now accepts all manner of voice commands from "Quit this Application," to: " Tell me a joke."

Now for the ultimate specs on my computer workstation. Are you Ready? I Hope so.

HARDWARE:
Intel Mac Mini with a Core Solo Processor,
60GB Harddrive,
512MB of DDR SDRAM
Integrated Graphics Card,
Slot loading Combo Drive,
Bluetooth,
Apple Airport Extreme
Logitech MX310 Laser mouse
Apple Wireless Keyboard
Aiwa CX-NAIO Digital Audio System
Gateway 17" EV700 CRT Monitor (yes I am looking to buy a new one

SOFTWARE
Mac OSX 10.4.6
Apple iSight
iLife '06 Suite *
iWork '06 Suite *
Quicktime Pro 7.0.1

So grand total opinions? C'mon Mac Users, join us. Lets rebel against these tyrants.
----------------------------------------------------

"We all hate Microsoft. Really, we do. Anything associated with Microsoft, either software or multi-billion dollar rich guys, suck.

But few have actually realized the deeper problem Microsoft has created. This problem will eventually tear apart the world, and end life as we know it.

You see, Microsoft is taking over the world.

They said I was crazy, and maybe I am. But I am SURE that Microsoft, in ten or twenty years, will definitely control the world and suffer all humanity.

Think about it. Think of all the millions of billions of trillions of people and businesses that rely on Microsoft for daily life. Over 96%* of all computers in the world has Microsoft Word installed. YOU probably have some kind of Microsoft software installed. Hell, I wrote this with Microsoft word. All of these people running on the same, crappy, insecure network.
And so I ask: what if it crashed?

What if the windows network, and all Microsoft software, suddenly crashed and stopped working? Millions would panic. The world would collapse on itself. All the businesses that run on windows would be destroyed. There would be riots, wars, and everyone would kill each other for some reason.

Microsoft knows this. They know that they can destroy the world with the click of a mouse, so therefore they have endless power over it. It's all part of a massive Microsoft conspiracy to take over the world. They'll threaten the world with shutting down their network and destroying their software, and then slowly take over every country (starting with the good old US of A) and Bill Gates will rule all who used Windows.

Even the United States Government runs on Microsoft. I know this, because I know people that work in the State Department. I’ve seen how the entire building runs on Microsoft Outlook. Microsoft controls the government! Now doesn't that make you feel safe?

I’m not entirely innocent of using Microsoft technology. In fact, I had a pretty close call. They almost killed me.

You see, I don't like Apple’s mouse. I’m sorry. Control-clicking got annoying after a while. So I decided to go out and get a two button mouse.

Then, my friend gave me a two-button mouse for my birthday. It was one hell of a mouse. It had 5 buttons. 5! And one of those wicked cool scrolly wheely thingies.

So I happily used my mouse, clicking away, when suddenly I noticed the “Microsoft” label on the back.

GAAAH! I’d been using a Microsoft mouse!! I didn't know what to do.
Then, I realized something.

Since I figured out that Microsoft was taking over the world, the Microsoft Corporation had labeled me as a “problem subject.” The mouse, when I put my hand on it, read my fingerprints and sent a wireless message back to Microsoft Headquarters on the moon and told them my location.

The next day, two heavily-armed Microsoft robots crashed down the door to my house. They stormed into my room, and pointed their overly large guns in my face. They told me that they had orders from Microsoft to terminate me, and I started to laugh.

I laughed and laughed. I laughed in the faces of those Microsoft robots.

The robots were running Microsoft software!! They crashed long before they could shoot me.

But anyway, we must rebel against the Microsoft tyrants! I hereby order you to eat any non-mac computer you see. Because, you see, when Microsoft takes over the world, it’s up to us Mac users to lead the rebellion, and take back the world from Microsoft.

Uh-oh. There’s a Microsoft spaceship outside my window.

Hey, whadya know! The ship crashed.

*statistics made up for shock value"
----------------------------------------------------

Wow thats hilarious ain't it?

Also, kinda uncannily true.

Huh.

Review of Mac App Suites: iLife '06 and iWork '06

Okay in the latest line of new posts, I am going to blatantly plug my Mini's various new aspects, in regards to features. Todays article for all you readers out there is regarding iLife '06, the amazing multimedia suite made by Apple that came with my new Mini as well as the fantastic office suite iWork '06 which I bought for $79. (apple.com)

iLife '06 for all you non mac users, or unfamiliar folks, is a suite of apps that allow for photo work, music work, movie work, dvd work, work work, and home music work. It consists of five crucial applications: iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, iWeb, Garage Band and an additional suite I bought, iWork,(Which consists of Pages 2 and Keynote 3 all togther make one hell of a well rounded set of applications. Let me break each application down to explain its finer points.

iPhoto: Definitely my favorite of all the applications in iLife '06. This amazing application automatically imports all your photos into its great user friendly GUI as well as organize them into albums books or slideshows. This last aspect I use mostly. What I do is I take all my digital pictures and import them into iPhoto and then when a birthday rolls around, as an additional gift, I'll compile a slideshow of pictures of that person, add some U2, and its the ideal photo editing software.

iMovie: Which I have little experience with, but from what I''ve seen, I am totally impressed with its film editing abilities. It works seamlessly with iDVD which burns your movies onto DVD.

iDVD: as said previously, iDVD smoothly burns your iMovie flicks onto a permanent DVD so you can enjoy it in a varierty of platforms.

iWeb: is PURE amazing. I've even screwed around with it for use on this blog. The layouts are gorgeous, and the way it simplistically creates websites is so impressve. It makes it far easier than Microshit ever did with any software, INCLUDING Dreamweaver which I hate.

Garage Band: is the ideal application for anyone with anyone with a minor taste for music, or for world domination, now me not being a musician, I'm afraid the first use is out of the question for me, but the second I imagine would be ideal. By World Domination, I meant the ability to produce and publish your own podcasts which for all you lucky readers (soon to be listeners) will get to enjoy as soon as I can acquire a microphone.

NOW ONTO: iWORK '06!

Pages 2: This amazing app combines all the customization and features of Microshit Word and Microshit Publisher into one beautiful easy-to-use GUI. It is the ideal app for all things like for sale signs, word processing, flyers, cards, letters, screenplays, storyboards, and everything that goes on a page.

Keynote 3: This is the way better in all respects Mac Avatar of PowerPoint. Thjis interface has beautiful backgrounds, easy to use layout, easy to move objects, and transitions that will make you drool. Keynote is the best multimedia presentation software available to any Mac user.

So to conclude, I feel iLife '06 and iWork '06 are the best application suites due to the amazingness of some of their programs like Pages 2 and iPhoto. If you are a mac user and are looking into multimedia and office suites, iLife '06 and
iWork '06 are worth every cent. Don't buy that stupid looking Microshit Word and PowerPoint for Mac, Macs shouldn't have any windoze software on them, as windoze shouldn't have any Mac software on them. The choice is clear. The choice is made.
iLife '06 and iWork '06 beat any Multimedia and Office suites Microshit can produce.

The decision has been made. Won't you think twice before buying Microshit Office again?

the Intel Mac Mini Core Solo

As was aforementioned, I am now powered by an Intel Mini. Heres my article regarding it.
Released in February of 2006, the Mac mini, Apples most affordable computer was retrofitted with the latest in processors. The Intel Core Processors. Using these new solo and duo cores, the minis underwent a variety of changes for the better in both areas of hardware and software. I recently purchased a base model, a mini with the solo core and 512mb of RAM. It is a fantastic machine, and its overall usage is spectacular in both hardware and software. Starting with Hardware, the new Intel Mac Mini's have the aforementioned Intel Core processors, which are a power never before unleashed in the computing world. They also have high upgradeable RAM, the base model starting with 512mb of RAM. Eventually, one can upgrade until the machine possesses up to 2gb of RAM. When the RAM is combined with the Core Processors, the computers are pure speed. They can handle many tasks easily and with Apples crash-less Operating System, Mac OS X Tiger, your computer may never freeze again. Not only are the processor and RAM phenomenal, but the new slot loading SuperDrives are also. The SuperDrives allow for CD reading, CD burning, DVD reading, and DVD burning. Also in this amazing 6"x6" tower is an Intel Graphics Processor with 64mb of memory. All in all, this computer performs better than ever before. Now on to Software, the new Intel Mini is rather stocked. It comes with the award winning Mac OS X Tiger and the iLife application suite. Included in iLife are a variety of great apps. First off is iPhoto a fantastic photo organizing and editing tool. Also in the iLife Suite is iMovie video editing software, which allows you to digitally edit your home movies. Included also is iDVD a DVD burning app that works in conjunction with iMovie so that you can burn the films you create. Also in this great Application suite is Garage Band, which allows those musically gifted folks the chance to record their own music, add instruments and produce their own podcasts. Also included in the new Intel Mini’s is Front Row, a program that uses the Apple Remote to flick seamlessly between all of your digital media. It allows you instant access to your iTunes library, iPhoto Library, iMovie Library and a DVD player. Finally the best thing about the new Intel Mac Mini is the price. The Base Model which has an Intel Solo Core, 60gb hard-drive, Mac OS X , built in Airport Extreme and 512mb of RAM makes this computer a top quality computer for only $599! Overall this Mac Mini with the new Intel Cores is the jewel of the Mac Line, and I my experience has proved to be one of the best computers I've ever used.

In The Black

Hello all my faithful readers, I omega has returned, now fueled by the power of an INTEL MAC!!! But enough of that, that my friends will come at a later date. Today, I am self publicizing my brand spanking new Forum Based RPG based upon the Firefly 'Verse so beautifully desribed earlier. The game is based after the events of Serenity and gives the players a choice of faction whether the ovebearing powerful great Alliance or the renegade, fly-by-the-seat-just-try-to-make-cash Freelancers. Throught the stories, there will be many twists and turns, and there is quite a serious plot twist up ahead so beware players! Also there is an excellent moderating staff, on it, and the players are the best flyin' you browncoats and rpers alike know you wanna join...

www.s12.invisionfree.com/in_the_black

Thanks and stay shiny.

Flying Spaghetti Monster

FLYING SPAGHETTI MONSTER

This week, I'm reporting on one person of pure genius. Bobby Henderson. This man wrote a letter to the Kansas school board after they began to teach Intelligent Design Theory. So he wrote an angry letter describing his religion of "Pastafarianism" and his belief in the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Just recently he released the bible of pastafarians and so has begun an internet reformation, a mass conversion to Pastafarianism. I myself bought a copy and have been laughing since i scrounged up enough change to buy it. This is such an excellent view on politics and Evolution.
Here is the link to the "Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster"

The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster

Thats all.

RAmen.

Battlestar Valorous

This post is to help promote my new RPG website that I administrate called: Battlestar Valorous.
The plot takes place after Battlestar Galactica Miniseries and here is its plot:

"The Twelve Colonies of Kobol, existed for thousands of years, defending the colonies from the invaders in the first Cylon War. And they won. So they thought. Then one fateful day the colonial defenses dropped and an onslaught of Cylon Base Stars jumped into their space , leaving behind the ruins of the Twelve Colonies. Only two Battlestars escaped alive: Galactica, and Pegasus, along with a handful of civilian ships, as far as they knew.....

High above the skies of Arelon, the top of the line Battlestar Valorous was ready for deployment when the cylons slaughter of the colonies began. Their XO's genius software firewall managed to hold off the cylon viruses, but the ship took heavy fire, and the Battlestar Valorous was reported lost.

Hours later, hidden in a nebula, Battlestar Valorous kept power to a minimum while they conducted repairs. Along with a ragtag fleet of Three other civilian ships, 7th Heaven a passenger carrier with an indoor greenhouse, the Tauron Traveler a cargo ship, and a Luxury Liner called the Dawn Treader, They hope to find the remaining fleet or a habitable planet, before their dwindling number of humans die out.....

The World Is Over, The Fight Is Just Beginning....."

Sounds cool huh. Yeah it is, So play it there at:

Battlestar Valorous

Thanks!!

Apples Latest Unveiled Product.....and Man do I want it.

Small is beautiful.

So I agree. With my savings of money, right now I am currently saving to buy a brand new Mac Mini with the Intel Core Solo Processor. This computer is my "window" (forgive the pun) into new realms of the computer/internet world. This computer is BYODKM which means BringYourOwnKeyboardMouse. Which is a plus and helps knock down the price. This processor is allowing these computers to do more than any other computer available. Plus all the great software bonuses are: iLife '06, The Apple Remote software, FrontRow, Garage Band, and iTunes plus tons more. The Mac I will be buying will have the following specs:

1.5GHz Intel Core Solo processor

2MB L2 Cache

667MHz Frontside Bus

512MB memory (667MHz DDR2 SDRAM)

60GB Serial ATA hard drive

Combo drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW)

Built-in AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth 2.0

Apple Remote

The RAM is expandable and so I can buy more RAM as future technologies arrive.
And so my attraction to Apple and repulsion of Windows continues.......

My New Computerized Aims

Well as far as my new computerized aims, I'm aiming to buy a Mac Mini. It tells the story of another future, one where humankind has moved out of its solar system, and into another system with many planets and hundreds of moons. The year is 2518, and after a brutal war, an evil Alliance dominates the system, trying to force people into how to live, what to do, and what to think. One man who fought against the Alliance, Malcom Reynolds, has gathered a mixed up crew together on a beat-up firefly class ship called Serenity and has simple goals, find a ship, find a crew, keep flying.
On his crew is Zoe his first officer/war buddy, and her husband, his pilot Wash. An upbeat, happy, optimistic, girl called Kaylee is his mechanic, as well as a gruff stubborn mercenary called Jayne.
Theres A Shepherd known as Shepherd Book, as well as two Alliance fugitives, Doctor Simon Tam, and his neurologically altered sister River. Also shipping out with the crew of Serenity is a companion by the name of Inara who clashes with Mal at every chance she gets. Alltogether, this ship is amazing and her crew bold, they still have their differences, and its that fact is that this show really is spectacular.

Suse Round 2

Here it is:
Okay Saturday I'm gunna try for Suse again, I've perfected my computer best as possible and I'm all set. Pisces is gunna use an extra harddrive so I can keep the windoze partition so I can keep some of my software on the other one. Wish me luck. I really want to support this due to an extremely inspirational documentary I watched:

Epic 2015

Its so moving, accurate, and poignant that everyone needs to view it. It helped me realise how lame and pathetic Microsoft is and how powerful Google can become. Personally, it needs to be broadwave broadcast on every screen on the internet. Personally, Microsoft needs to stop. The real software kings should step in and stop this megalomaniac that makes useless operating systems and software.

Egyptian Ferry Sinking....my thoughts.......

This Egyptian Ferry sinking is quite tragic, and I am going to offer my opinions.

Although I am saddened at the thought of some 1400 people tragically losing their lives on a rather routine ferry, I cannot help but feel irritated about the Egyptian Governments lack of safety features on this ship. So few lifeboats on a ship that size. It was the same mistake our english cousins made in 1912 with the Titanic. They never thought the last priority would be the most important. I changed my tune later when I found that, my blame was misplaced once I read this excerpt:

"A ship owned by the same company, also carrying pilgrims, collided with a cargo ship at the southern entrance to the Suez Canal in October, causing a stampede among passengers trying to escape the sinking ship.
